honeyglow echoes your every move
with an air of grace, do you
even realize how thoughts of vanilla cashmere
overwhelm my senses? heartbeat racing
for you, i’m breaking my own rules
because (insert cringe linebreak) how else
can i say it? i want you.
let me see the world through your eyes
so that i may look upon it more kindly,
let me take your hand in mine
and show you how gentle my love can be.
your laugh is more beautiful than
my most elegant verse and still i write
in hopes to hold your heart for a moment.
Lorelei Thomas is a poet from Virginia and a Creative Writing major at Sweet Briar College, class of 2028. She primarily writes confessional free verse but enjoys trying her hand at a short story every now and then. Lorelei currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Red Clay Magazine, and is honored to have had their work featured in Red Clay, The Broken Teacup, and Pink Ochre Literary Magazine.
