WATER CUP | Ron Arbuckle

Always filling up your water cup
Domestic bliss, life always dreamed of
See it empty, must fill it up ‘gain
Run it sock-footed to our chrome fridge
“Hot girlies need to stay hydrated,”
I think… Cubed not crushed. “You stay in bed.”
Warmest covers, their arms are strongest
Think about you laying there scrolling
Wait for the water takes the longest
Warmth missed in this duty-bound strolling
Now I break the ice with this long straw
Forcing it down to the polar depths
Fill this cup, bound by unwritten law
Thoughts of you swirl in ancient recess
Bring it back. Tell you I love you. Kiss!
Always filling up your water cup
But are you filled up… with tend’rest love?
